Uttar Pradesh University cancels Rahul Gandhi's function
Kanpur, Oct 24 : Uttar Pradesh administration today cancelled interactive session of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi with the students of the Chandrashekhar Azad University.
According to sources, the Vice Chancellor of the University had given instructions to cancel the programme.
However, Rahul, who reached the University as per the scheduled programme, met the students in the cafeteria, instead of auditorium.
Uttar Pradesh Provincial Congress Committee (UPPCC) President Rita Bahuguna Joshi alleged that the cancellation was done under pressure from Chief Minister Mayawati, who a fortnight ago took on Congress President Sonia Gandhi canceling the land allotment for a rail coach factory in Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency.
Earlier this month, Mayawati had poured cold water on Congress President Sonia Gandhi's plans to lead a rally in Rae Bareli by clamping prohibitory orders on her.
