UP govt rejects any disturbance in Rahul Gandhi's prog
Lucknow, Oct 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government outrightly rejected its hand behind the cancellation of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's scheduled programme at the Chandrashekhar Azad Agriculture university in Kanpur today.
An official release here stated the speculations regarding the change of Mr Gandhi's programme by the state government were ''baseless.'' ''Neither had the state government and the district administration granted any permission for the said programme, nor have we reverted it,'' the release read.
The decision could have been taken by the varsity, it clarified.
''The allegations are an attempt to tarnish our image,'' it contained.
Moreover, Mr Gandhi was provided security by the state government at all the venues, it added.
