Silver, gold improve in opening session

Mumbai, Oct 24: Breaking the three-day downward march, both the precious metals slightly improved in the opening session on Friday, Oct 23, as silver rose by Rs 70 per kg and Gold by nominal Rs 10 per ten gm on fresh demand by ornament makers, traders in the Bombay Bullion Association said.

Silver opened at Rs 17,605 per kg, while gold at Rs 11,650 per ten gm.

In Asian markets too a bullish trend was observed as gold rose to USD 726/727 (719/720) an ounce, while silver at USD 9.35/9.36 (9.32/9.33) per troy ounce, Singapore market report said.

An improvement was seen in precious metals as oil gained today, traders informed.

Following were the opening domestic spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 17,605 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 11,650 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 11,715.
