Kandhamal nun demands CBI enquiry

New Delhi, Oct 24: The nun, who went through the trauma of rape during the Kandhamal violence, on Friday, Oct 24 said that she had no faith in the Orissa Police and asked that the case be transferred to the CBI.

The Supreme Court had declined to transfer the case to the central agency on October 22. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Sister Meena said that she has 'lost faith' in the Orissa Police as it failed to stop the crime. She alleged that the police did its best not to file an FIR against the criminals and did not record her statement in the case. Therefore, the case be transferred to the CBI, she read out from a statement.

The nun was raped in August, two days after VHP leader's murder in Kandhmal. Recounting the trauma, the nun said that the mob beat her up and tore off her clothes.
