NDTV cameraman among five injured in Srinagar clash

Srinagar, Oct 24 (UNI) At least five people, including a cameraman of the NDTV were injured in a clash between anti-poll demonstrators and police at Maisuma near here this afternoon.

Immediately after the Friday prayers, people took to the streets at Maisuma, where the headquarters of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) is located.

As they wanted to march towards the Lal Chowk, police and security forces stopped them, ensuing a clash. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators, who were pelting stones.

Amid all this, a stone hit Mr Tariq Ahmad in the back. He was admitted to hospital.

The demonstrators were carrying photograph of JKLF chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik, who was arrested by police during the intervening night of October 22 and 23.

Mr Malik along with Jamait-e-Ahalihadees (JeA) had addressed anti- poll meeting at Hajan, going to polls in the first phase on November 17.
