Bengaluru, Oct 24: The Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd (KSIC) on Thursday, Oct 23 kicked off its mega Deepavali sale of Karnatakas heritage product Mysore Silk at the NGV Shopping Complex 1st floor, Koramangala, here. The exhibition will be on till October 26.

Also on show are wedding collection sarees under the name “Threads of Gold." A special discount of up to 30 per cent is offered on all the products. The traditional manufacturing method using twist patterns adopted in weaving the fabric gives the Mysore silk a grainy feeling.
The zari used in Mysore Silk has a gold content of 0.65 per cent and silver content of 65 per cent. Patronised by the former rulers of Mysore, women needle workers created Kasuti embroideries incorporating motifs inspired by classical sculpture. Kasuti embroidery from North Karnataka captures the minute details of the elaborate motifs.
