LIC starts first infocentre in East-Central zone

Jamshedpur, Oct 24 (UNI) Life Insurance Coporation of India (LIC), the largest insurance company of the country, today inaugurated its first infocentre in the East-Central zone comprising Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand.

Addressing a press conference here after the inauguration of the centre, Zonal Manager Basavraju said customers from all corners of the country can get information related to product features, policy status, settlement of claims from the centre which is connected to the central database.

The Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)-based state-of-the-art infocentre, the 14th in the country, will provide instant access and faster response to the customers and policy holders from all over the country through email and telephone.

''The 15th such centre would soon be opened in Lucknow,'' he added.

To a query he said according to the latest performance data collected upto October 15, the East Central zone stood first in the whole country with respect to premium collection with Rs 925 crore and second after Central zone as per number of policies.

He also denied any effect of the economic recession on the Insurance gaint.

''As of now we are not feeling any impact of slowdown. We have no information of any request for redemption for this reason. Moreover, only 25 per cent of our policies are market-related and they are invested in a very secure manner as per the provision of insurance act. Major part of our business is in the conventional segment which has not been affected by the financial crisis. India is not as much affected by the recession as the US, UK and Japan,'' he claimed.
