Rupee falls to record low of 50.15/USD
Mumbai, Oct 24: On Friday, Oct 24 Indian Rupee opened at a record low of 50.15 per USD, weighed down by heavy losses in Asian stocks which raised worries of more outflows from the local share market. At 9 am IST, the rupee was at 50.00/15 per dollar, compared with 49.81/82 at close on Thursday, Oct 23.
Asian stocks fell sharply on Friday, Oct 24 as the lobal economic slowdown slashed earnings prospects for an array of companies, forcing investors to look to safer government bonds. Indian shares fell 3.9 pc on Thursday, Oct 23, taking their loss this month to 24 pc.
