Coimbatore: 300 VCK activists arrested
Coimbatore, Oct 24: Asking Centre to intervene in the ongoing Stri Lanka crisis, 300 Viduthalai Ciruthaigal Katchi (VCK) activists attempted rail blockade and demonstrations.
The activists burnt Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa in effigy at Madathukulam near Udumalpet and Podanur near Coimbatore city. They attempted rail blockade at Singanallur, Irugur, Coimbatore North, Coimbatore Railway Junction, Pollachi and Tirupur. They raised slogans demanding that India should work for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka and ensure protection for the Tamils living there.
