4 get lifer for raping, murdering 4-yr-old girl
Mumbai, Oct 24 (UNI) A local court today awarded life imprisonment to four people for raping and murdering a four-year-old girl in 2006, at Shivaji Nagar in eastern suburb of Gowandi.
The Sessions Court Judge convicted Parvez Ahmed (32), Mohammad Sarif (25), Hasib Manjum (25) and Mohammad Sameer (18) under Section 376 (rape) and 302 (murder).
The accused, who were working as labourers in Shivaji Nagar, had kidnapped the victim on April 7, 2006 and killed her after raping, as they were enraged over her chemist father, who denied to give them ''Restil'', a sleep-inducing, as they did not have a doctor's prescription.
Though earlier the victim's father lodged a missing complaint, three days after the incident her body was found in septic tank of a public toilet.
Sameer had confessed the crime in a narco test, while a witness told the court that he had seen the girl with the accused that evening. The prosecution had examined 23 witnesses to build up the case.
