Rs 1,19,772 cr fertilizer subsidy this year
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) The estimated requirement of fertilizer subsidy in the country has risen to Rs 1,19,772 crore during the current year, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In 2007-08, the Government had disbursed Rs 40,338 crore as fertilizer subsidy, Minister of State for Fertilizers B K Handique said in a written reply.
The rise has been due to sharp increase in the international prices of fertilizers, constant selling prices of subsidised fertilizers within the country and an estimated increase in demand for fertilizers in the current year, he said.
