Maoists call bandh for greater Jharkhand passes peacefully
Purulia, Oct 23 (UNI) A 12-hour bandh called by the Maoists passed off peacefully in Purulia and Bankura districts today.
The Maoists are demanding for bigger Jharkhand state to include Purulia, Bankura and Midnapore West districts.
The bandh was also called to protest the proposed steel plant at Salboni.
The vehicular traffic was off the roads and most of the shops and establishments downed their shutters.
Attendance in the government offices was thin.
Bandwan, Manbazar, Jhalda, Bagmundi, Arsha and Kotshila blocks reported total bandh.
There was no report of violence.
