Lalu asks CEC to derecognise MNS, urge people not to damage railways
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Prasad today said he has asked the Election Commission not to register the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or if already done then derecognise it and urged people not to attack railway property.
Mr Prasad said he spoke to Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami by telephone and urged him to derecognise the MNS as its activists had attacked North Indians gone to Mumbai to appear for the Railway Recruitment Board examinations. He said once CEC returns to the capital, the RJD would meet him and formally move a petition in this regard before the Commission.
Charging his political opponents with instigating people to attack trains, Mr Prasad it was not 'Lalu's Railways' but public property so people should not harm trains and coaches. Regarding LJP President and union minister Ram Vilas Paswan's reported statement that as part of JP Movement he had also burnt buses, Mr Prasad said that the former would not made such a comment.
He said the UPA would fight the coming Lok Sabha election unitedly and there were no differences among its components.
