Decision of petroleum prices within a week: Deora
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora, under persistant criticism from the entire opposition in the Lok Sabha during question hour, announced that in a week's time the GovernmEnt will take a decision on reduction in petroleum prices in the country.
Earlier, the entire opposition which included the BJP and its NDA alliance partners and CPI(M) and its Left group along with the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and the Telugu Desam Party staged a walk out as they felt that the Minister's reply on this issue was not satisfactory.
Opposition members pointed out that the UPA Government, during its tenure in office, had raised the prices of petroleum products by nearly six times on grounds that oil prices had gone up in the international markets and the domestic petroleum companies were suffering huge losses.
At present, when international crude prices have fallen by over 50 per cent, what was holding back the Government in reducing the prices of petroleum prices, they asked.
