CPI-M MPS demand more foodgrain for Kerala, stage walk out
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Accusing the Centre of discrimination against Kerala in allocation of foodgrains from the Central Pool, the CPI-M members from the state today staged a walk-out to register their protest.
The issue was raised by Mr N N Krishnadas who accused the Centre of political venegeance for "deliberately" cutting foodgrain allocation to the Left Front-ruled state.
The Centre's apathy was not limited to foodgrain but also to electricity, he said, alleging that the UPA paid no heed to the plight of the people who were suffering from acute shortage of power and demanded more electricity from the Central pool.
Almost all members were on their feet, seeking an assurance from the government on the matter. The Speaker made repeated pleas to the agitated members to go back to their seats, but in vain.
At this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi rose to assure the members that he would convey their sentiments to the Prime Minister. Even this failed to satisfy the CPI-M members and they staged a walk out.
