AAPSU for job reservation for Arunachalees in RGU

Itanagar, Oct 23: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has demanded eighty per cent reservation for the Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes for appointments to teaching and non-teaching posts, direct recruitment as well as for promotion and in admission to various courses at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU).

A delegation of the apex students' body, led by its president Kanu Bagang, called on the executive council members of RGU D N Bezboruah and Dr C R Hazra at the university campus yesterday and placed various demands for removing the grievances of the Arunachalees at the varsity.

The meeting was necessitated as a follow up to the union representation submitted to the RGU authorities on different subjects for welfare of the indigenous people of the state, union sources informed here today.

On the demand for C &D grade job recruitment, the members were unanimous that cent per cent reservation would be done for the state and on the creation of Schedule Tribe cell in the university for the process of placing grievances of the indigenous people, the members told the delegation that necessary feedback would be given to the vice-chancellor to immediately establish the same.

On inclusion of Arunachalees in various university bodies like executive council, academic council, syndicate and selection committee, the members assured that necessary recommendation would be made so that the problem was permanently addressed, sources added.
