17 Bangladeshi fishermen arrested in India
Paradip, Oct 23 (UNI) Indian Coastgaurd has arrested 17 Bangladeshi fishermen on charges of fishing illegally in the Indian waters off Paradip coast violating the maritime zone.
A fishing trawler was also seized from their possession while they were catching fish in the Bay of Bengal, about 35 nautical miles off Paradip port yesterday.
Coastguard personnel led by Assistant Commandant, Haldia, B S Tomar intercepted the trawler and arrested the intruders.
Later, all the 17 Bangladesh fishermen were produced in a local court by the Orissa policemen.
Paradip Police station Inspector-in-Charge B Mishra said police have registered a case against the fishermen.
