AP: VMR institute organised seminar on Chandrayaan-1

Hyderabad, Oct 22: VMR Institute of Technology and Management Sciences (VMIT), a private engineering institute affiliated to the city-based JNTU, on Wednesday, Oct 22 organised a seminar on ''Rocket Technology and Chandrayaan-1'' at its campus to commemorate the launching of ISRO's PSLV-C11, carrying Chandrayaan-1 from Sriharikota.

The seminar, aimed at creating awareness among VMIT students on the efforts of the government towards Space applications, was graced by Prof Anjaneyulu from Aeronautical Department of the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IARE), Hyderabad, a press release here said Dr K Rajanna, Professor and Principal of the Institute, briefed about principles involved in development and design aspects of rockets. Design philosophies of PSLV, and GSLV as well as need for multi-stage rocket assembly were discussed.

Prof Sanjeev Kumar, Physics faculty of the Institute, explained the details of Chandrayaan-1, the first unmanned lunar mission of India, and Payloads carried by this satellite belonging to various nations.
