Over 23 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 22 (UNI) Over 23.79 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far during the current Kharif season.

Stating this here today, a spokesman for the Food and Supplies Department said that out of the total arrival, 14.26 lakh tonnes had been procured by government agencies at the minimum support price and the remaining 9.53 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

He said Hafed had procured 5.86 lakh tonnes of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 4.34 lakh tonnes, Confed 1.99 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 1.43 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 57,473 tonnes and Food Corporation of India 4,850 tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading with the arrival of 5.76 lakh tonnes, followed by Karnal 4.34 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 3.48 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 2.74 lakh tonnes, Ambala 2.26 lakh tonnes and Yamunanagar 1.62 lakh tonnes.

Besides, 3.25 lakh tonnes of Bajra has arrived in the mandis of the state during current Kharif season upto October 21.
