Jaya charges TN CM with supporting LTTE

Chennai, Oct 22 (UNI) Launching a scathing attack on the outlawed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), AIADMK General secretary J Jayalalithaa today charged tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi with ''committing treason by ''supporting the terrorist outfit.'' In a strongly worded statement, Ms Jayalailthaa said ''both the DMK regime in the state and Congress-led UPA at the Centre were acting against the soverignity of the country, as Mr Karunanidhi was ''openely supporting the banned militant organisation with the Centre encouraging him.'' In the coming elections to the Lok Sabha, the people would teach them a lesson, she said and asserted the AIADMK would not lag in continuously opposing the divisive forces and those ''indulging in anti-national acts like seeking a separate in state.'' Alleging that terrorists and extremists forces got free access to the state, whenever the DMK came to power, she said pro-LTTE activities were again gaining ground in the state.

In a rally at Rameswaram, Tamil Film Directors Seeman and Ameer openly supported the LTTE and expressed anti-national views,besides seeking a separate TN.

Similarly, ignoring the warning issued by the Director General of Police, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Leader Thol Thirumavalan openely supported the LTTE, but no action was taken against him, she said.

The Chief Minister could not be expected to take action as he himself had rendered a poem, condolding the death of a LTTE leader, she said and wondered as how the Congress rule was going to tackle the problem.

Stating she was on the hit list of the LTTE, Ms Jayalalithaa said she was the only leader in TN to oppose the terrorist organisation as it interfered in the internal affairs of India and carried out activities against the interest of the country.

If those who opposed the LTTE were dubbed as ''anti-Tamils'', those who supported the LTTE could be dubbed as ''anti-nationals'', she underlined.

Describing LTTE leader V Prabakaran as a ''destructive force'', she said the Tamils in Lanka were not at his mercy.

When ceasefire was declared, he would accumulate arms and other essentials to fight again, the added.

''Who is responsible for the killing of Tamil Leader Amirthalingam and Padmanaba,?'' she asked.
