Buddhadeb lauds Bengal's law
Kolkata, Oct 22 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today claimed that the state was ''undoubtedly peaceful'' as compared to others in the wake of communalism, terrorism and regionalism in the country.
Speaking at the West Bengal Police Investiture Ceremony- 2008 here, Mr Bhattacharjee said law and order was peaceful in the state.
He said terrorists were engineering bomb blasts in various parts of the country in a bid to weaken it, apart from fuelling communalism.
'' It is unthinkable that the students of a particular state cannot appear for an examination in another state. We cannot even imagine that a state would treat the people of other states as unwanted,'' he observed.
He informed that terrorists were taking shelter in Jharkhand and fuelling terrorism in the state.
He said there were around 53,000 personnel under West Bengal Police and the job of a cop was more difficult than that of other departments, as it involved more risk, responsibility and duration of work.
The chief minister also presented Police Medals to 157 recipients of the West Bengal Police during the function.
