SC permits MCD to deseal commercial premises but with rider
New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) The Supreme Court today permitted the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to deseal all the sealed commercial premises, which were protected by the government notifications issued from time to time, subject to a rider.
The stipulation is that the owners of these properties shall file an affidavit of undertaking that they will be bound by the final decision of the Supreme Court on the petitions challenging such notifications.
A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat, C K Thakker and Lokeshwar Singh Panta also issued show cause notice to Banarsidas Chandiwala estate, asking them to explain why a exemplary cost of Rs 25 lakh should not be imposed on them for making derogatory remarks against the monitoring committee members as well as amicus curiae senior counsel Ranjit Kumar.
With today's order the process of sealing of commercial premises, operating from residential areas in Delhi would come to a virtual halt.
