Law College students picket Assembly to press demands
Puducherry, Oct 21 (UNI) Tension prevailed as students of Dr B R Ambedkar Government Law College here picketed the Legislative Assembly today to press their demands.
Demanding that 19 vacant posts, including the post of eight lecturers in law and the principal be immediately filled up, the students picketed the assembly.
Police held talks with the students and allowed six of them to enter the assembly premises to meet the Minister concerned.
Since, Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and Law Minister E Valsaraj were not available in their offices, the six students staged a dharna on the steps of the assembly building while other students continued their picketing.
Learning about the incident, Mr Valsaraj rushed back to the assembly and held discussion with the six students and assured them to look into their grievances immediately, after which the students called off their stir.
