Banned crops over 50 kanals of land destroyed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has destroyed banned crops over 50 kanals of land in south Kashmir, official sources said today.

They said on a tip-off that some villagers were cultivating banned crops, including bang and charas, a police party from Bijbehara conducted raids at village Dupatyar in Anantnag district.

During the raid, bang crops over 50 kanals of land was destroyed, they said adding a case has been registered against the land owners.

However, no one was arrested.

Banned crops over thousands of kanals of land has been destroyed by police and excise department officials in Anantnag and Pulwama district of south Kashmir during the past six months.

More than 20 smugglers were also arrested by the police.
