Illegal gun trading racket busted; 3 arrested

Cuttack,Oct 20 (UNI) Police have busted an inter-state illegal gun trade racket and arrested three people including a couple, during a raid in the city late last night Cuttack DCP A N Sinha told newspersons here today.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a lodge in Thoria Sahi area under Mangalabag Police station and arrested three people under Arms Act 25 and 27, he noted.

He said police have seized nine single shot pistols, four mouser pistols, as many revolvers and several rounds of ammunition, besides three mobiles from their possession.

The DCP identified the accused as Rajesh Choudhury, his wife Meena Devi and Rajdeep Ranjan of Kasim Bazar Police station limits in the Munger district of Bihar.

Mr Sinha said the gang had come at least five times earlier to deliver arms and weapons to the anti-socials, but this time they were caught before delivering the consignment.

All the three would be forwarded to court tomorrow, he said.
