Four tourists from Kolkata killed in vehicle mishap

Gangtok, Oct 20 (UNI) Four tourists from Kolkata were killed and seven injured in an accident while they were returning from a visit to the Changu lake and Baba Mandir in East Sikkim today.

Police said the injured were being treated at the SNTM hospital here.

The tourists, belonging to two families, were said to be from Kolkata, preliminary reports said.

The dead were identified as Ashish Dhar (40), Rafel Dhar (70), SN Biswas (65) and Puspha Biswas (58), police said.

The injured had been identified as Subash Dutta, Surbana Dutta, Tisha Dutta, Disha Dutta, Bijoy Guha, Parna Guha and the driver.

Tisha and Disha are kids.

The accident occurred at the 8th Mile when the tourists were coming back to Gangtok, said SP (East) MS Tuli. The reason of the accident could not yet be ascertained.
