Sri Lankan film festival commences in MP

Bhopal, Oct 19 (UNI) In order to boost Indo-Sri Lanakan cinema relationship, a five-day film festival was organised here, which kiched off with five best films of the Island nation, official sources said today.

The film festival started yesterday under the joint auspices of the High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Madhya Pradesh Culture Directorate (MPCD), Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet evam Kala Academy and Bharat Bhavan at Rabindra Bhavan.

''The Indo-Srilankan cinema relations were established in 1930,'' said MPCD Secretary Manoj Shrivastav, adding that the changing social values would be displayed in the movies.

International Film Festival Golden Peacock award recipient film Gamperaliya was screened yesterday. While other film Rekava showed the renaissance of Sri Lanka.

The other films were Nidhanay, Kadapathak Chaya and Teerth Yatra.
