Punjab Cong leaders to meet Sonia for higher paddy bonus
Patiala, Oct 19 (UNI) The Punjab Congress is not satisfied with the recent announcement of Rs 50 per quintal bonus on paddy and its senior leaders will meet party president Sonia Gandhi to convey their resentment.
This was disclosed by local MP, Perneet Kaur, wife of former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
In an informal chat with mediapersons during a function, she said that a delegation of Punjab Congress members, comprising of MPs, MLAs and PPCC members besides other senior leaders will meet Ms Gandhi tomorrow on this issue.
"Though we welcome the announced but it is not enough considering the problems being faced by the farmers", she said while pointing to the steep rise in farm inputs like diesel, fertilizers and pesticides.
