Paddy procurement nearing 60 lakh tonne mark in Punjab
Chandigarh, Oct 19 (UNI) The six government agencies and millers have procured over 59,86,1742 tonnes of paddy till yesterday evening, official figures released today stated.
While the bulk of the purchase has been made by the five state agencies, FCI has procured only 72,983 tonnes of paddy. The millers procured 5,49,691 tonnes.
Ferozepur district continued to lead in procurement, with 10,155,52 tonnes of paddy having been purchased so far.
The six government agencies have paid over Rs 2982.81 crore for paddy procured so far.
