Effigies of Ratan Tata burnt at Singur
Singur, Oct 19 (UNI) The Krishi Jami Raksha Committee and Trinamool Congress activists today burnt Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata in effigy here in protest against the latter's comment on Mamata Banerjee.
Local Trinamool Congress MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharjee and Raksha Commitee convenor Becharam Manna lashed out at Mr Tata for the latter's ''vitriolic'' comment on Ms Banerjee.
They termed the open letter of Mr Tata asking the people of the state to choose between Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Ms Banerjee as totally ''uncalled for and unfair''.
They threatened to intensify their agitation if Mr Tata did not withdraw his comment.
Meanwhile, the newly formed Nano Bachao Committee today staged a rally here for bringing back the small car project to Singur.
