Mob runs riot over boy's death in road accident in Vadodara

Vadodara, Oct 18 (UNI) An angry mob created a ruckus on the busy Tandalja road in the city this evening, after a speeding truck ran over a nine-year-old boy.

The deceased, idenfied as Mohammad Saad Nijam Sheikh, was reportedly returning to his home after a tuition class, when the accident occurred.

Before police could reach the spot, the irate mob went on a rampage and set on fire the truck and a car that had rammed into it from behind, and attacked a number of vehicles passing by on the road.

The mob even pelted stones at the police when they took the truck driver into their custody. As the situation went out of control, police resorted to lathicharge to quell the mob.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service to put out the blaze. Barring the truck driver, no arrest has been made in connection with the violence, police sources said.
