Kerala: Daughter suicides, father collapses

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 18: A man died of heart attack few minutes after seeing his daughter's body, who had committed suicide for not being able to bear her father's sufferings.

V S Varghese (53), Chief Conservator Forests (Administration), was undergoing treatment at the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) for terminal lung cancer for the past two-and-a-half years, died of heart attack as he saw his daughter's body yesterday.

Twenty-year-old Anu Varghese, a final year engineering student, was said to be very close to her father and she took the extreme step as she was unable to see her father's sufferings.

According to family sources, she was depressed after visiting her father in the morning. She had gone into her room to get ready for college.

However, when her sister opened the door, Anu was found hanging.

Varghese, who was brought here to see his daughter's body, suffered cardiac arrest and died soon after.
