CM asks depts.to ensure wages for contract employees on time
Hyderabad, Oct 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked all the departmental heads and other officers to ensure that contract, outsourced and work-charged employees with the State Government were paid their wages on the first of every month under any circumstances.
Addressing a meeting here, he said there should no excuses in this regard. Acquittance rolls could be taken during the third week of the month as in the case of regular government employees and the bill should be sent to treasury.
''You must know that they also have to run a family. They also depend on their wages. They too are waiting for the payment of remuneration. When they work eight hours a day for a month, they should be paid on the first of every month, he said.
He asked the Finance department to release funds to ensure that there were no problems in this regard.
The Finance secretary clarified that funds were being released well in advance for about five lakh of such employees in the state in all departments.
