Mamata, Amar demand judicial probe into Jamia Nagar encounter
New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh today demanded that the government order a judicial inquiry into the Jamia Nagar encounter that took place after the Delhi serial blast.
Addressing a large gathering of Jamia Nagar residents here tonight, the two leaders asked them to use their vote power to dislodge those who were branding the whole community as terrorist just because of some individual's act.
Ms Banerjee said she would resign from politics if it was proved that the Batla House shootout was not a fake encounter.
Mr Amar Singh in his speech launched a scathing attack on the BJP and its leader L K Advani for his demand to him to apologise to the nation for calling the Batla House incident a fake encounter.
He said it is Mr Advani's party which was doing a great harm to the nation by dividing its people. Describing the BJP as ''Bharat Jalao Party'', they said this party has done nothing since its inception except exploiting religion to grab power.
Mr Singh sought to clarify to the large Muslim crowd that his alliance with the Congress did not mean that his party endorsed on the policies of the ruling party.
