Grenade recovered from Jammu Rly Station

Jammu, Oct 17: A major tragedy was averted when a live grenade was recovered from Jammu Railway Station last night, police sources today said.

''The HE 36 grenade, wrapped in a sleeping bag and found was lying abandoned near Railway Station,'' the sources told UNI, adding that passers by located it and informed the police.

However, police along with Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot and defused the grenade.

''The grenade might have been brought by some Army jawan, who scared of being trapped after the detection of the explosive in X-ray machine, must have dropped it near Railway Station,'' a police officer speculated.
