Federation takes up cause of Tamils
Puducherry, Oct 17 (UNI) The Puducherry-based Federation for Peoples' Rights today urged the administration to adopt a government resolution in the winter session of the territorial assembly seeking the intervention of the Centre to ensure ceasefire in Sri Lanka, and save innocent Tamils in the island nation.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minsiter V Vaithilingam today, Federation secretary G Sugumaran also urged him to take steps to prevent the Centre from extending military support to Sri Lanka.
Mr Sugumaran also demanded an all-party meeting on the issue as in Tamil Nadu and endorsement of the resolutions adopted in the meeting, chaired by DMK President M Karunanidhi.
