BJP seeks SHRC intervention following communal clashes in AP
Hyderabad, Oct 17 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Andhra Pradesh Unit today sought the State Human Rights Commission's (SHRC) intervention to stop alleged harassment of innocent people by the Adilabad District Police following communal clashes in Bhainsa town.
In a memorandum to the SHRC, a copy of which was released to the press here, party legal-cell National Executive Member K Anthony Reddy and Adilabad District Legal Convenor Ravi Pandey contended that the workers of the BJP and also the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh(RSS) were allegedly harassed by the police.
They pressed for action against Nirmal Sub-Inspector D Mohan for allegedly using ''third degree methods'' against three persons, M Raju, Narsaiah and Anil Kumar, who were now under judicial custody and undergoing treatment.
They urged the SHRC to direct the state government to provide compensation to the family members of clash victim Butan Singh, who was survived by three daughters, two of them blind.
They also prayed for a direction to the state government to provide compensation without discrimination to all those whose property were destroyed during rioting.
