Volvo to sell 450 luxury buses this yr, not to roll out CNG version

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Heavy vehicle major Volvo Buses India Ltd today said it plans to sell 450 luxury buses by this-year end.

''The luxury bus segment is growing at a rate of 25 to 30 per cent annually and we are targetting sales of 450 units this year,'' ompany Managing Director Akash Passey told reporters here while launching the Volvo 9400 6x2(B9R).

However, the company has no ''immediate plans'' to rollout CNG versions of its products. ''Though we are looking at alternate fuel options, we have no immediate plans of rolling out CNG variants of our products,'' he said.

''We are only focussed in the diesel segment and that's why we did not participate in the tender floated by the Delhi Government as it was meant for CNG only,'' he said.

Asked whether the company is contemplating to bring its Hybrid buses onroads in India, he said, ''We are not planning to bring Hybrid buses in the country.'' Talking about the company's future plans, Mr Passey said, ''We have a fixed portfolio and have no plans to bring something new in the next few years.'' The company, which has till now sold 300 units, has 38 services and spare parts centres and headcount of 650 across the country.
