Universal Success inks MoU to set up 10,000MW thermal power plant
Kolkata, Oct 16(UNI) Universal Success, an NRI-run Indonesia-based company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the West Bengal Government here today for setting up of a 10,000-MW thermal power plant near the city with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore.
Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb told reporters after the MoU signing ceremony that the company would initially set up a 1,000-MW power plant on 1,000 acres of land near the port area.
" The speciality of the project is that the company is entering the power sector in the state as an independent power provider for the first time. Besides, the coal, to be used in the power plant would be imported," he said.
The capacity of the power plant would be gradually to 10,000 MW, the Chief Secretary said.
Mr Prasun Mukherjee of Universal Success said initially the project would provide direct employment to 1,000 people and pave way for indirect employment of about 12,000 people.
