Lalu inaugurates Veraval-Somnath broad gauge rail line

Somnath, Gujarat, Oct 16 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today inaugurated the Veraval-Somnath Broad Gauge Railway line here.

The Railway Minister also flagged off the 1463 Veraval-Jabalpur Express, which will now halt here following construction of a new railway station.

He said budgetary provisions would be made for a new line between the Coastal belt of Somnath-Sudamapuri and Dwarka, after the Survey for the same was over.

Mr Prasad also praised the work of the new line and announced an award of Rs five lakh for the workers.

He also criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for ''obstructing'' the construction work of the Rae Bareli coach factory.

Referring to the Nano Project, Mr Prasad said the project should be shifted from Sanand to Dwarka since it was affecting the farmers there.

Earlier this morning, Mr Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, daughters Anusha and Laxmi and son Tejpratap visited the Somnath Temple after arriving from Dwarka in a special train.

Later, the family left for Sasan Gir Sanctuary. In the evening the family would return to Junagadh, from where they will leave for Delhi in a special train.
