7 held for attack on policemen in Malegaon
Nashik, Oct 16 (UNI) Seven people have been arrested in connection with the attack on police personnel following the Malegoan bomb blast on September 29.
According to police, Shaikh Mukhtar Nihal Ahmed (20), Mohammed Isa Mohammed Yakub (19), Jafar Abdul Qadar Ansari (35), Rafiq Ahmed Mohammed Salman (55), Abid Iqbal Ahmed (35), Naimulhudan Samsulhuda (30) and Nihal Ahmed Rafiq Ahmed (26), were arrested yesterday in a joint operation carried out by Azadnagar police and Crime Branch.
Earlier, Abdul Rahman Salam Chans (18) was arrested for stealing pistol and ten cartridges belonging to Deepak Borse, bodyguard of Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Patil, during the attack.
At least 35 policemen, including Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Police Veeresh Prabhu were injured in the attack.
Meanwhile, the seven arrested were produced before a local court, which remanded them to police custody till October 20.
