US Army chief arrives tomorrow on 3-day visit to India

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) To further enhance the bilateral Indo-US defence relations, already on a high, Chief of Staff of the US Army General George W Casey is arriving here on a three-day visit beginning tomorrow.

He is the first top-ranking US official to come to India after the conclusion of the nuclear deal.

General Casey, while holding wide-ranging talks with his counterpart General Deepak Kapoor on boosting cooperation in Defence matters, will also meet the country's top military brass and visit Defence estabishments.

The US general's visit comes just after the conclusion of the Indo-US nuclear deal and amidst speculation that multi-billion dollar defence purchases were the 'hot' topics on the table.

Even as both countries engage in promoting Defence ties through various exchanges, military purchases is likely to form the core of discussions between the two establishments, specially after the US's 'efforts' in the successful conclusion of the nuclear deal, according to sources.
