Rs 24.70 cr sanctioned for SSA programme
Pudukkottai, Oct 15 (UNI) The Union Government has sanctioned Rs 24.70 crore for 'Sarva Siksha Abhiyan' (SSA) programme in Pudukkottai district during the current fiscal.
According to official sources, the fund would be utilised for setting up School Resource Centres, construction of additional class rooms and buildings, maintenance of school buildings and adoption of new learning methodology, amoung other things.
The highlight of this year's programme was a special residential bridge course for the mentally-ill children. The Pudukottai-based Thai Trust, a non-governmental organisation had been entrusted with the task of educating 40 such children, the sources added.
