IUML wants probe into Advani's security issue

Kozhikode, Oct 15 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a partner in the Opposition United Democratic Front in Kerala, today demanded a high-level probe into circumstances leading to the removal of two Muslim police officials from the security cover provided to Senior BJP leader L K Advani during his visit to the city.

Expressing strong resentment over their removal just ten minutes before Advani's visit yesterday, IUML State General Secretary P K Kunhalikutty demanded a high level probe to find out who was responsible for it.

Alleging that the incident was not unintentional, he said this was part of a game plan hatched by the ''Sangh Parivar'' to create a division among government servants in the state.

Meanwhile, denying any malafide intention from exempting the two cops from duty, City Police Commissioner Anoop Kurvilla John said altogether 12 drivers were short-listed for five pilot vehicles to accompany the VIP.

But, the two drivers were taken away from duty as only ten drivers were required. They happened to be from the Muslim community, he added.
