Improvement in Amitabh's condition

Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was in much better health today and has been put on a liquid diet, doctors at the Lilavati hospital said.

''We are happy with his progress,'' the Doctors said on the fifth day of his hospitalisation. He was admitted for treatment of severe abdominal pain last Saturday on his 66th birthday.

The actor had a steady stream of visitors, enquiring about his condition. Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and Tina Ambani, wife of industrialist Anil Dhirubhai Ambani, were among those who met the actor.

Amitabh's family members, including wife Jaya, son Abhishek, daughter in-law Aishwarya and daughter Shweta Nanda have been constantly by his bed-side.

According to hospital sources, the actor has been advised complete rest for a month. He may be discharged soon, the sources added.
