HC directs police to file reply on Pathan's anticipatory bail plea
Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the city police to file a reply on the anticipatory bail plea filed by Dawood Ibrahim's brother-in-law Zanzeb Khan alias Guddu Pathan, fearing his arrest for involvement in assault of a police informer at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.
Adjourning the case till October 18, Justice D B Bhosle also ordered that Pathan should be present during the next hearing.
On September 12, Sewri Session court had rejected his plea on the grounds that prima facie material was available against him and it was not a case fit for bail.
According to the prosecution, on August 4, four assailants, allegedly including Pathan, stabbed police informer Patel and his friend Machchiwala while they were passing through Senapati Bapat Marg in central Mumbai, believing that Pathan had informed police about their activities.
While Patel sustained injuries, Machchhiwala is currently fighting for life in goverment-run King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Patel had played a vital role in solving a corruption case involving crime branch officers, Dawood's sister Haseena Parker and two builders.
