Former journalist, Chidambaram's secretary passes away

Chennai, Oct 15 (UNI) Mr V Thirunavukkarasu, former News Editor of Doordarshan and Personal Secretary of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, died here this morning following a brief illness.

He was 72. He is survived by a daughter.

Mr Thirunavukkarasu, who took voluntary retirement while working as the News Editor of Doordarshan, was not keeping well for some time. This morning he suddenly developed wheezing and collapsed at his residence, family sources said.

The funeral will take place tomorrow.

Mr Thirunavukakrasu had extensively covered India's IPKF Oeprations in Sri Lanka for Doordarshan.

He had also served in various units of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, including Field Publicity. He had also served as Registrar of Newspapapers of India.
