Two nabbed with over 2 kg of opium
Moga, Oct 14 (UNI) Police nabbed two opium smugglers while they were waiting for customers near Nihalsinghwala late last evening.
SSP Ashok Baath said here today that a police party, while on patrol duty last evening at Nihalsinghwala, noticed two persons sitting suspiciously along the bank of a local drain near their jeep parked there.
On seeing the police party, the duo became panicky and tried to give a slip to the police but were overpowered.
They were later identified as Amanpreet Singh a goldsmith of Malout and Gurlal Singh of Moga.
In the presence of DSP Moga Bhulla Singh, a search of their vehicle yielded 2.24 kg of contraband opium.
On interrogation, the accused confessed that they were getting the supply from smugglers based in Tarn Taran district and were involved in the job of delivering the consignment to customers.
