Punjab crushes J and K by an innings and 380 runs

Patiala, Oct 14 (UNI) Punjab inflicted a crushing defeat on Jammu and Kashmir, winning by an innings and 380 runs on the penultimate day of the Inter-State cricket tournament (Under-22) for C K Nayadu Trophy here today at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium.

Overnight 647 for 7, Punjab declared the innings without taking guard this morning when the play began.

J and K again failed in the second essay, bowled out for a meager 159 in 46.1 overs against a lethal bowling attack.

Parvez Rasool, who scored a painstaking half century (67), was the only J &K batsman to withstand the penetrative Punjab bowling attack. Rohit Bhat (28) and Asif Rasool (19) were the other main scorers.

For Punjab, Rahul Sharma, who bagged 4 wickets, conceding 14 runs, was almost unplayable. Harmit Singh took 2 for 27.

With this victory, Punjab earned 5 points, while J &K failed to earn a point.
