Nov 29 election to Mizo Assembly a triangular fight
Aizawl, Oct 14 (UNI) The November 29 elections to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly will broadly be a triangular fight featuring the ruling MNF, the largest Opposition Congress and the United Democratic Alliance, newly formed by two smaller regional parties Zoram Nationalist Party and Mizoram People's Conference with the backing of farmers' group ZKP.
As of now, no party has officially announced its candidates, except a few aspirants, who have announced their candidature on Independent tickets.
This would be the sixth Mizoram Assembly.
Official sources here today said notification will be issued on November 5 while the last date for filing of nomination is November 12. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on November 13 and the last date for withdrawal is December 15.
The sources said the polling will be completed in one phase on November 29 and results will be announced on December 8.
The term of the ruling Mizo National Front, led by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, ends in December.
